Do You Believe in Luck?

Do you Believe in Luck?

Luck is one of humanity's most useful concepts for making sense of random chance and the seemingly unexplainable.

If you find a 20$ bill on the ground, you have good luck. You have bad luck if a gust of wind blows your 20$ bill just as you pull it out of your wallet.

What role does luck play in our everyday lives? Do people have the power to make themselves lucky?

While lucky people are always in the right place at the right time and unlucky people can't catch a break, a big part of luck is people's thinking and behavior.

People who believe lucky things happen to them tend to fare better than people who feel unlucky. This is the power of positive thinking.

If luck is based on your mindset, then yes, you can absolutely change your luck for the better.

Make small changes in your everyday life, like writing down how you felt lucky at the end of the day or changing your daily routine. Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Being a flexible thinker and having a flexible approach to life will mean you are more open to opportunities when they come along, thus making your life "lucky."

Yet, is there something to all the superstition?

Finding a four-leaf clover, breaking wishbones, or crossing your fingers. On the unlucky side, breaking mirrors, opening umbrellas indoors, or the infamous Friday the 13th. Others like knocking on wood to ward off bad luck.

Do these things work? Is luck a force of nature?

While luck can feel real and impact our lives, I can't answer whether it's a force of nature or just our perception. All I know is that positive thinking leads to positive things, and that is how I live my life.

But...I am going to knock on wood a little, just in case.

Until next time, folks. Stay strong, stay fearless!
